The Nigerian Startup Ecosystem Record
A record that shows its sources
A public register of the organisations that build Nigeria's startup ecosystem. Every entry shows the sentence it came from, the page it was read on and the date, and an organisation can claim and correct its own entry.

What it is
A queryable record of hubs, funders, workspaces and programmes across Nigeria. Entries are read from each organisation's own website, show where every claim came from, and can be claimed by the organisation they describe.
The problem
Every hub, network and fund convenes real people and moves real money, and almost none can produce evidence of either. The value in the ecosystem is a graph, and nobody holds it. Existing lists go stale, point to dead sites, or repeat what an organisation says about itself with nothing behind it.
Who it is for
Founders looking for support, organisations that want to be found, funders and policymakers who need to see the whole picture.
How we are going about it
- Read each organisation's own site, and keep the sentence, the page and the date.
- Treat the record as a source of truth, not another index.
- Let organisations claim and correct their own entry.
- Keep entries to what an outsider can verify.
- Publish what was found, including what was wrong.
Where it stands
Live, with 111 organisations across 33 cities. Only one entry has been confirmed by the organisation itself so far, and the record says so on its front page. Keeping the record true after the people who built it get busy is the unsolved part.
