National Energy Dashboard
Nigeria's power data, checked
A prototype that collects Nigeria's published grid data, backfills it to 2019, tests it against itself, and serves it through an interface, so that software and people can use the numbers without trusting them blindly.

What it is
A data service and dashboard for the national grid. It collects the figures the system operator publishes every 15 minutes, backfills hourly station data to 2019, and runs a verification layer that tests the numbers against each other. Every figure is labelled with its source and method.
The problem
Nigeria's hourly grid figures are published, but they are self-reported by the generation companies, and the sites that republish them do not check them. Anyone who needs a number they can rely on, for a report, a model or a decision, has no way to tell a sound figure from a doubtful one.
Who it is for
Analysts, planners, journalists and institutions that need grid numbers they can defend, and any software that needs them in a usable form.
How we are going about it
- Start from data that is already published, and add nothing that cannot be traced to a source.
- Collect on a schedule and keep the history, so a figure can be checked against its past.
- Test the numbers against each other and flag what does not reconcile.
- Show the method and the sources on the page, not in a footnote.
- Say plainly that the figures come from public sources and are not official statistics.
Where it stands
A working prototype, live and collecting. It is a demonstration of the approach and is marked as one on the page. Fuel, prices and other energy data are not covered yet.
